RICHMOND, IN – Paint the Towne, in partnership with Dementia Friends Indiana and LifeStream Services, will host a Memory Café on the first Wednesday of the month beginning March 4 at 11:00a.m. to noon at their location at 411 N. 8th St. Richmond, IN 47374.
Memory Cafés are a welcoming safe place for people with dementia and their caregivers to enjoy activities and a break from their normal routine. Additionally, it is an opportunity to socialize and connect with others who are in a similar situation. The activities are provided at no cost, however, some activities may request a donation to cover the cost of supplies.
There are more than 700 Memory Cafés in the United States. Paint the Towne will be the first one offered in the Richmond community. Maria Haber, owner of Paint the Towne, shared:
“We are honored to be a part of the Memory Café program. Art therapy enhances the quality of life for people living with Dementia. Paint The Towne offers a fun and relaxing place to create”.
Paint the Towne is a Dementia Friendly location in which staff have learned how to help people living with dementia and their caregivers feel included and accepted in their community. LifeStream is East Central Indiana’s Dementia Friends Administrator.
